Default First test sounds very "phasey" and digital?

Everything sounds like it's being run through a phase pedal or something.... I feel like it's a routing issue, almost like I'm hearing the audio twice by the time it comes out of the headphones and maybe one of them is getting there slightly later, thus giving it a phase sound?... I'm also hearing some very faint "digital" sounds (pops, clicks) and my signal is really weak (I've got the gain about 90% and hardly get a signal through the mic)..... I'm certain it's something really obvious I'm overlooking in the routing but I'm lost......

Another possible reason I think it's a routing issue -- when I close PT completely I'm still getting a signal and hear everything under the headphones but it's no longer doubled (phasey), yet it's still a pretty faint signal overall...

My setup:

iMac Retina 5k, late 2014
4GHz Intel i7
24GB Mem
PRO TOOLS 12
Focusrite Clarett 2 Pre
Condenser: AKG 414.

Thank you!

Yep, turning on low latency monitoring should have you fixed up.
