Default Apollo Twin USB and Digi 003 (Windows) and PT10

I’m awaiting Sweetwater to ship the Apollo Twin USB, so I’m trying to proactively prepare to my transition…I currently have a digi 003 and the monitors and mic connected to this board also. Once I receive the Apollo, I’ll want the monitors and mic going into the Apollo of course and the 003 to control pro tools when mixing. How do I go about achieving this? I’m thinking running an optical cable out of the 003 to the optical in on the Apollo? Will I have to change the ASIO to the Apollo when tracking vocals, and then back to the 003 when mixing? I'm not sitting in front of the board now, but if I'm not mistaken, I won't be able to control anything from the board while the Apollo is the ASIO right, I'll have to click the mouse while recording...

Why would you need the 003 to "control Pro Tools when mixing?"

Oh, and I'm quite jealous you're getting an Apollo Twin. Saving up the nickles and dimes....

I'm not sure I understand your question, I use the control surface of the 003 while mixing.

Oh, got it. Sorry. I was thinking the 003 was an interface only.

Please explain how you use the 003 as a controller with something else used as the interface(aka "audio engine")
