Sick of OS X discussion

Hi all!

I´m so sick of this discussion/rumors about OS X as the apple´s DEFAULT OS, digi dropping apple by not supporting OS X even with the new PT HD.

What do you guys think??? Of what do you dream???

Apple will support the 9.x systems in the future, too. Both OS are installed on a new mac... and this will be so for a long time to go!!!

And digi is working on OS X. So there´s really nothing to worry about.

Why aren´t you happy about the new releases???

For my part I´m glad I don´t have to spend so much money for a MixPlus system anymore...

So why don´t you just go to work and make music (even with OS 9 [img]images/icons/tongue.gif[/img] )?!

It does get old. It will happen when it happens. I'm not in a huge rush for OSX. I'd rather it be STABLE, than first out of the gate...

So am I!! Digidesign is far from being the
only software company not currently supporting OSX, and that's the whole reason why Apple also puts OS 9.x on
the new Macs. OSX support requires a
complete, from-the -ground-up rewrite,
so let's lay off and give Digi the time they
need to do it right! I for one won't be ready
to go X until ALL the sofware I use is compatible with it. As for the rumours
that Digi is throwing us Mac users overboard, this might be a legitimate concern if this newest version of Pro Tools were version 6.0 (as opposed to the "point" version that it is)-and still didn't support OSX.
Let's also not forget that the new hardware is for Mac only (at the moment).

The rumour that Digi is abandoning the
Mac platform also stems from the fact
that Digi has decided to use Wave files
exclusively. I thought that there had to be a good reason that Digi was doing this-
one that did not involve the jettisoning
of the Mac. It looks like I was justified.
Apparently SD2 and AIFF do not support the higher sample rates (which many of you have been clamoring for for quite some time now) and Wave does. It would be silly for Digi to redo the SD2 format to
support the higher sample rates when
there already exists a widely used format
that already does. So let not your heart be troubled, Mac users! [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

marcoustic.....I think we just want some feedback from digi about the future so we can make our plans.....When it comes to OSX ..Firewire... real shipping dates..and so many more things...It would be nice if Digi would just answer some of these posts even if the answer is, we do not know...........I think what makes people mad is leaving the hard working money paying troops in the dark...
