Command 8 send mute

Command 8 send mutes rotary knobs Led won;t switch up between red or green when i hit select / with command apple from command 8 like on page 38 of the manual muting sends. If i do it in protools with the mouse the send mute light toggle green to red on command 8 and in plug in insert mode i can mute/select the plug in with the rotary / apple command from command 8 just fine and i can do it with the send in flip mode it works fine just in channel view it won't select so it's not a light problem or modifier problem what is is then.
