Default C400 problem

Hi there guys,

hope you can help me out with my C400 and Windows 8.1:

Flash is crashing and Windows Media Player takes a minute to load. My C400 is set as the standard audio output. Somebody already suggested that I should to set my soundcard to standard and let it do the websounds. Tried that, but It's only playing back audio when I set my C400 to standard. The sound that comes from my Sequencers seems to skip any Windows audio control settings. Any idea how I can let the soundcard do the windowssounds AND route that through my C400 so I can hear it on my monitors?

My DAW is already omptmized for Audio use. I've updated my BIOS and reinstalled the driver a couple of times (I've also tried different USB hubs).

I never had any such problems with my prior Interfaces. Any idea how to solve this? Many Thanks.

The way I do it is:

Interface SPDIF output to sound card SPDIF input.
Set PT to use the interface as the audio device, and output through SPDIF
Set Windows to use the sound card
Connect speakers to sound card

That way Pro Tools passes audio to your sound card, which then passes it to your monitors. Windows goes direct to the sound card to your monitors.

Many thanks for the reply Joel.

I have a headphoneamp plugged to 3-4. I guess it's not possible to do this twice. Is there any other way? Thanks
