Lots of tracks, getting DAE errors
Hello all, we're running 96 tracks of audio 24/48, and our system keeps stopping with the DAE errors. AND, we haven't even turned on the video playback yet! The audio is currently residing on two drives via FW400. We're thinking about splitting the audio out to three drives. Would this likely be our problem or would it be more likely that it's a computer-is-not-strong-enough problem?
We're on G5 PowerPC (non-Intel) dual 2.0ghz, 8gb of RAM. HD5 with two Accel cards. Thoughts? Appeciate any info anyone has to get our playback reliable and smooth! |

Re: Lots of tracks, getting DAE errors
Computer is fine. 96 is a lot of tracks, especially if there are a lot of edits.
Ideas: Try using FW800 drives instead, if possible. Or better yet, run audio from an additional internal SATA drive. If you stick with FW400, try using a powered FireWire hub and also try 3 drives. Consolidate tracks with lots of edits. Your files and drives could be pretty fragmented too, which can be helped by copying everything to a newly formatted drive.
