Help please ; PT 9 playing PT 7 sessions incorrectly

Hi . Looking for help please. Just installed PT 9 HD2 today (crossgrade to Accel from PCI ). Tested it with 24/96 session. All tracks record and play fine. Then opened up multiple older sessions recorded 24/96 with PT 7 . something. All waveforms are present in the mix window , but every other channel is not playing . ( 1, 3, 5 play ; 2, 4, 6 don't etc. ) No signal present in mix window or on corresponding analog channel on my Amek desk . Stereo tracks , same problem ; left plays , right doesn't. Can anyone please tell me how to correct this situation ? Thanks so much !! Rich

could be quite a few things! but things to look at...

Is this a fresh install of pro tools? or did you install over a previous version?

What version of the operating system?

under options / playback engine is the audio device set to HD TDM?

in playback engine are their enough voices allocated (per DSP) to voice every track in the session!!

Have you trashed prefs etc. use this app..

Is this just one session?

have you tried a new session? in this session go to the i/o setup and delete all output paths and renew them all and re-assign them all.

also check the hardware setup and make sure all outputs are assigned to the desired outputs on your interface/s

Thanks Christopher for your helpful reply . Sessions are now playing successfully after PT 9 calculates and converts PT 7 files. I think I may have selected the wrong option in a dialog box when it asks about change in setup and voices etc. Currently the settings are:
48 voices
2 DSP
96k
No delay compensation
HW buffer 256 samples
16 processors
CPU 85%
Disk buffer level 2
Cache size normal
Computer is new Mac Pro 2 X 2.4 Quad core Intel Xeon with OS 10.6.4

If it helps in diagnosing what was wrong , I was also experiencing some digital clicks and pops that are now gone. Thanks again for your reply . All the best, Rich

Glad you're running now!

A few things..

48 voices is a low setting for a 96k session! unless you are running a very slim session!!

256 buffer might be tight if you are running any heavy RTAS plugs! again a cause of pops and clicks.

16 processors? this needs to be be lowered to avoid RTAS over messages and cpu spikes and clicks and pops. try 14 or lower? this won't effect overall performance.
