Default mbox 2 pro - Snow Leopard - newest driver???

Mac Book Pro 2007, Duo-Core 2.4 GHz
6GB RAM
Mac OS 10.6.8
Bootcamp WinXP Home SP3
Mbox 2 pro - as stand-alone without using ProTools (7.3.1 was shipped with the hardware)
direct FW800 connection … no hub

Hi there,

This is crazy ...
I have my Mbox 2 pro working on my Bootcamp WinXP Home SP3 installation - no problems.
So far, working on Leopard 10.5.8 – no problems
Now, on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 - not recognized.

It does not even have the power light on, when connected to FireWall under Mac OS.
Switching back to Bootcamp WinXP, it is recognized immediately after boot.
When switching back from Bootcamp WinXP to Mac OS, it goes on “stand by” (power LED blinking) while Mac OS is booting.
Shortly before Mac OS is fully booted, it turns off … completely … no lights (and no sound of course).

I have the newest driver (8.0.3) installed (several times):

not working

I tried this:

not working

When connecting my digital camera to the same FireWire port where the mbox 2 pro is not working, the camera is recognized immediately.

So:
mbox 2 pro is working (as proved on Bootcamp XP)
FireWire cable and FireWire connection are working (as proved with digital camera on Mac OS)
I believe I have the latest stand alone driver (8.0.3) … but it seems I need a newer one (which is not only tested until Mac OS 10.6.2)?
I definitely won't buy the ProTools 8 software, just to have my mbox 2 pro back running again.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help!
