Old doesn’t mean unusable or not functional.

Case in point?

A 1961 Strat is old but they are still
Very functional

Using the analogy of a 1961 is laughable....we're talking IC's/processor chips not a piece of wood that ages like a stradivarius. Are you still running a Digidesign 888 I/O?

Is there some sort of capacity problem with your current HDX system? It will give you 192 physical i/o and 768 voices in current specification.

The question is why there isn't a new card or is Avid not going use cards anymore and will the latency be for the future. :roll eyes:

Can you answer this question?

Maybe there is not a need for a new card? With that said, historically Avid should have already introduced a new version. But as they say, you cannot predict the future by looking back.

Hahah no i am not. That’s is very old and definitely not desirable - it’s All good I personally believe HDX is very usable

I would imagine they would go away from Cards and make a “in the box” offering like Apogee and UAD

I bet they would however keep the HDX in the lineup, it’s fills a void in the market and it saves them the R&D money to release a new one

Latency sux. I say they need to make one with no latency. Maybe that's what they're working on.

Best,

It seems odd that right towards the presumed end of life of HDX, Avid should release PCIe expansion chassis if something new isn’t anticipated.

Then there’s the new MTRX Studio with Digilink ports hardwired to the chassis and no Thunderbolt 3 - as yet (is that a blanking plate for an expansion slot on the back for future upgrades?). Perhaps HDX is going to be around for the lifespan of the MTRX Studio - unlikely. Or maybe Avid IS going to do a new card - possible I suppose. Or DSP cards will be consigned to history and Avid release an expensive Thunderbolt 3 upgrade - very possible in my view! Or maybe an HD Native v2 PCIe card with no DSP.

This is more like it, this would sell better, but....

It has to have more LLM outs than just two, has too.....

And put the dang Midi through the card or figure something out to make it have less latency with midi
