Default Hard drive noise during read write...

... Seems as though I've got an issue with the new computer where the work drive is making a fairly constant "percolating" sound, mostly during read write, but sometimes when I'm just moving the mouse around or during screen redraws.

Anyone experience this before? Could it be an issue with the SSD system drive? The sample drive? I would assume it's a read write issue with the work drive, but I'm not sure what the fix would be.

I've tried unmounting all drives except for the system and the work drive, but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

??

I dragged the sample and work drives to the privacy list in Spotlight, so we'll see if maybe it was an indexing issue, but me thinks not.

I have had this kind of problem before.

I comes down to bad grounding someplace in your system.

Does the noise get recorded or is it just in the monitoring section?

It would appear to only be coming from the computer itself - as in, from inside the thing. Not being recorded, and not coming through the mains.
That's why I'd assumed it was a read/write thing with the work drive, as the system drive is ssd, so no way to make mechanical "percolating" sounds there.
