Default What's the deal with Safari and the Avid software downloader?

In Safari I keep getting a fatal error, had to switch to Chrome to get it work.

Not only that, the disk image itself was really wonky and I had to open it with disk utility.

In newer versions of Mac OS X, the Oracle Java app is not installed (or disabled, I would have to look it up). If you download Java from www.java.com, that should allow you to use the Avid Download Manager. I had to reinstall it both times when I updated to Mountain Lion and Mavericks.

I just tested it, and used the download manager to download Pro Tools 11.1.3 for Mac in Safari, and the disk image opened normally when I double clicked it.
