Converting OMF files

First, I apologise for my ignorance.

My question is, is Digi Translater the only way to convert OMF files? I only need to convert audio files. Someone posted a record for me to mix and it is all in the form of OMF files on the server. I don't do any post work so I am unfamiliar with these files or the reasons why they are necessary. Any insight would be appreciated.

in short yes,

if you have an OS9 computer around you could try and find a copy of OMF Tool to open the file
