Default Input\'s greyed out on Mbox Input section...

Hello all,

I recently purchased an Mbox 2 and am having toruble recording on my laptop. The input selection for any channel I create are greyed out, and I can't seem to figure out why. I'm running an Mbox 2 with a PowerMac G4 laptop, 1GB of ram and recording to an external hard drive. I'm running version 6.8.1 with Panther for OSX. I've downloaded the firmware update for the power issue, as well as the apple download for powerbook batteries. Any suggestion would be helpful, I'm about to go crazy with the issue.

thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide. I found this topic in a different post, but the topic wouldn't open up. Thanks for everything.

Peace.

Try plugging the mbox into other USB Ports in your Mac. Certain USB Ports do not have enough power to run the mboxs

Also, double-check your I/O setup. Maybe reset to default.

I've tried to plug it into the other USB port, and I've checked the input section on Input/Output selestion. The input sections is on default and shows everything as being available. The other USB port does the same thing.

Thanks for the help though. If anyone else has any suggestions, I would be very greatful. Thanks.

Peace.

this may be basic, but go to the mix window...try holding control+apple and click on the input of the channel. That should activate your input. If not, have you tried trashing prefs (DAE folder, digisetup, Protools prefs, and any com.digidesign files in the pref folder), emptying trash, and restarting? What about trashing all the digi database folders on all drives? I would also repair disk permissions (on your mac HD) through Apple disk utility.

Hopefully this will help.
