Hello to everybody

in august i built this pc:

CPU I7-920 2,66G 8MB
Asus Motherboard P6t6 Ws Revolution
DDR3 4GB 1333 KINGSTON KIT
S.G. ATI ASUS H4350 512MB
HD WD 500 GB SATA 32MB
Thermaltake 750W TOUGHPOWER
PROTOOLS HD 2 pci-e

and the o.s. is win 7 64.
i use ad/da 192 by digidesign, linked via aes/ebu to an apogee rosetta that is the master clock.
in theese 2 months all worked fine (before i used protools le on a dell latitude workstation)
i just followed the advice of Seagate Studio and i installed the core card in the slot furthest from the CPU

any question is welcome

Running great Raoul... Solid, no crashes.
Haven't put it through a really dense VI test yet, however... but no probs at all with 4-5 VIs/40 audio tracks playback while tracking 2-3 tracks per pass...

HTH !

The PCI cards are fairly long, and in the standard mid tower case that I originally purchased, they just wouldn't fit... Is there a shop around you that sells parts? If so, I'd measure your HD cards, then go and take some case measurements.
If not, I'd def look for the DEEPEST tower you can find to build it. Maybe call the sales folks at whatever online shop your looking at and ask them specifically.

Maybe someone who built their's in a tower can chime in here?

Good luck with the build, Raoul... it was a major PITA at times for me, but is proving itself more worthwhile each day I work on it.

Well, like the PC Noob that I am, fried the prior mobo & processor putting in a silent cooler... Couldn't find another one anywhere...
Good news is that I found a different mobo that works great for HD3 (no dremel necessary!) ...and, most importantly, IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
...one more for the pile...

GIGABYTE GA-H55-USB3

(yep, KevS, it works...)

Default 6031 errors

Always consider IRQ guys, The UAD card I have some times will for no reason set itself to IRQ 17 where my main core card is and things go south fast. Then I pull the UAD card, Re boot then shut down, The re install UAD card then confirm its iIRQ sits at 18 or any where else- Then its all good again

Now if your MB Bios will allow then you can hard set the IRQ to SLOT paths. But anything that sits in the CORE card IRQ blows 6031's in a heart beat here and at a few other folks places i have been.

While there are many other sources for this error I can assure you a stacked IRQ will yield this error fast. Or random making it seem so untraceable.

Hi all,

there is a quite new P55 board from MSI with 3 PCI-slots.
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=pr...0&prod_no=2078

No dremel tool required

I have done a few tests with W7 Ultimate, HD2 PCI, this board and the Intel 875K processor - all is working and the results are pretty amazing!
Only downside is the lack of firewire, but there´s no problem with a FW PCIe card.

I have also tested with the Snow creature, and the performance is at least 2-3 times faster than my older Mac Pro Quad 2,66

Cheers
Zig
