Default Apogee Rosetta 800!!

Have you guys checked this out yet?!! 8 channels of a/d and d/a. Just talked with Apogee and they said it is the best box theyve got! Better than the 8000SE. Less features but better converters and clock. $3K. Also will have a PT card for connection to Mix systems in about a month. New life to my old Mix system!!

Ok, so now it will cost over $6000 to get a pair of Apogess that will do what the 192 does.

Indeed, but for those of us staying in the Mix world its a much better option than the 8000. Much better than the $29,000 quote for an HD2 with 24 I/Os of 192 and all the plug ins needed to go to HD.

And us folk that are still in the LE world. Now why didn't the 192 or 96 interfaces come in stand-alone versions

C24 + Digi-002R + Apogee Rosetta 800 = Home-made lemonade (HD quality???) Til I save for the real deal!

Just a thought Digi

A couple days ago I heard the Rosetta 800 for the first time and it is everything Apogee is billing it to be. The Rosetta 800 is a signifigant improvement over my AD8000SE. The lows are tighter, the high end is more precise, and the midrange is outstanding. To me the Rosetta 800 sounded like what I would expect a $10K-15K converter ought to sound like. As I said in another post I will miss the metering on my 8000, but I am sure I will miss it less and less the more I listen to the Rosetta.

I have since tested the Rosetta 800 against the Digi 192 in a double blind shootout. The difference was pretty extreme, and at all sample rates. The interesting thing was that the Digi 192 sounded a bit better at the higher sampling rates than it does at 48K or 44.1K. The Rosetta 800 sounds just as good at 44.1K, 48K and 96K (we did not have the 192K version of the Rosetta to test).

In the end all of us picked the Rosetta 800 over the Digi 192 at 44.1K, 48K, and 96K and we again picked the Rosetta 800 set at 48K vs the Digi 192 set at 96K and 192K.

It won't be possible to record at 96 Khz / 24 bits with an Apogee Rosetta 800 and a Pro Tools 24 Mix system, right ?
