Default Connecting an external guitar-preamp.

Hi guys,
Just wondering what would be the best way to connect my AMT SS 11 Tube guitar preamp into the 11r. I read somewhere that preamps go to the send/return of an amp head.So this is what I tried doing ( & not sure if this is the right way) : The preamp has send & return outputs,so I connected the send from the preamp to the mono return & return from the preamp to mono send of the 11r. The guitar is connected to the input of the guitar preamp. The only problem here is that I seem to hear the sound of the guitar only when the fx loop is set after the amp/Cab .I tried moving it to be placed before the Amp & can hardly hear anything! I thought preamps are supposed to be set before the amp & not after. So what am I doing wrong in this case?

Thanks

Well I switched to a different patch & I am now able to move the FX loop before the mp & hear it well.I am wondering if I need to change the True Z settings or leave it in auto? Also the white switch at the Send/return section in the back panel should be set to Stomp or Rack?

I'll just put the AMT in the eleven rack loop:
11R send ->Amt input -> AMT output (the emulated one if you don't want to use the 11R cabs or the other if you want to use 11R cabs) ->11R Return
Enable The FX loop in the 11R, set the levels not to clip the AMT input and the 11R return and you're done.
That way you can have the effects before and after the AMT, as you like it.
