Default DA88 - (DTRS) Transfer...

Hi all,
I need to transfer a single DA88 - (DTRS) tape to DAT or ProTools does anyone know of any good transfer facilities within the U.K. (preferably). I received a quote for £80.00, which I feel is a little too pricy for a single copy.

Any assistance appreciated...

£80 is about $160US currently, correct? Yeah, that is WAY too high for a single tape transfer to Pro Tools, IMHO. That's more on par with a typical 24-track 3-tape transfer.

But you said "to DAT" as an option? That would require mixing the files as well, and would definitely justify the price you were quoted.

For what it's worth, my typical fee for a single tape straight transfer (no mixing) from DA-88 to PT in my studio is $40US (about £20), but I'm in the US, so you would have to ship it here and pay for return post. And mixing it would be up to you (that's what most people want, anyway)

If you're interested, contact me through My Website and we can work out the details.

Darren,
By "DAT" didn't you incorrectly aimed at "ADAT" ?
One is two track, the other is eight track tape format.
BTW, if you don't have a Tascam DTRS handy, a possible half day rent would definitely be cheaper than the xfer service. Of course, ideally you'd need a TDIF to ADAT format converter, but a straight analog transfer should work.
I use an old DA88 and the Spectral Translator for this very purpose.
I could also do this for you..and offering to beat spkguitar 's quote of $40US !
I'll do it for $39.99 Can ... (j/k)

good luck,
a
