Default DIGI001 & Jazz

Does anybody have any experience with Jazz drives - or any other removable media...I run Pro Tools 5.0LE on a G4/450 384MB Ram Adaptec 2940 2UWScsi...what kind of trackcount should I expect and how reliable will it be...?

Any insight much appreciated

Thanks

Hey,

I wouldn't put anything on Jaz that you care about. I was a big defender of Jaz for the first year I used it with no problems at all. Since then I lost so much stuff (no client data, just lots of mine)until I finally quit using it at all. I've been through 2 drives and the second one wasn't used more than a dozen times in a year or two since I was already afraid of it. I've lost maybe 10 disks, every disk that I used more than couple times.

The good part is that Iomega seems to be so used to failing disks that they'll just send you new ones in exchange with practically no questions asked!

What they are good for is exchanging data between machines. But hard drives are cheaper than Jaz disks so I don't know if that works out.

But thats just my opinion, what do I know!

Jazz drives are unreliable at best, (strike that) dangerous at best and criminal at worst........don't use em' for anything period.
