Pro Tools LE 6.1 Crashes/Blue Screen of DEATH?????? Help!
Hello, I just bought the digi002 rack from a buddy. I should mention that it worked fine on his computer before I bought it. Heres my problem. I doulbe click the protools le icon and protools opens up. I click on file/new session and the new session window opens up. I then title my session and click ok and BAM, the windows blue screen of death... Why?
I should note that this was a clean install of windows xp with ALL the latest and greatest service pack and updates and a fresh clean install of a valid protools disk. I also followed the getting started guide to a tee and even some other options to set from the digidesign website to improve performance. Here are my computer specs: Pentium 4 2.53GHz 512 MB ram dual 80gb drives windows xp service pack 2 Please please please help me! Thank you. |

Re: Pro Tools LE 6.1 Crashes/Blue Screen of DEATH?????? Help
Might try updating your Pace drivers:
http://www.paceap.com/dldrvr.html Also note, 6.1 was not qualified for SP2 and could also be a factor in your BSOD's. 6.4 with cs9 was the first version officially compatible with SP2. Good luck- |

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I did do the update to the pace drivers. I also tried doing the install before I did all the windows updates but I did just realize that the disk I used for the windows install was with service pack 2 so maybe that is a factor.
Could you elaberate on cs9? I'm not familiar with it. Thanks for the quick response. |

Re: Pro Tools LE 6.1 Crashes/Blue Screen of DEATH?????? Help
cs9 is and update patch for version 6.4 that specifically deals with SP2 issues among other bug fixes.
Applying cs9 (and the plugin fix cs6) is highly reccomended for all 6.4 users. It doesn't apply to you as a 6.1 user, though. (cs stands for Customer Service BTW) You can still buy the 6.4 upgrade but if I were you, since your hardware supports it, I'd upgrade to the latest version of Pro Tools instead. |

Re: Pro Tools LE 6.1 Crashes/Blue Screen of DEATH?????? Help
Thanks I will give that a try but I did try to run the digi with sonar 4 that I borrowed from a buddy. I'm not sure how compatably the 2 are but i did notice that when i fire up sonar and it tried to talk to the digi it immediatly crashed my pc. I think i might have something to do with the way the hardware is communicating. Is there any way to verify that? What are you thoughts?

Get yourself some more RAM too. 512 is dead minimum.
