Default Mono check on 001

Greetings and thanx in advance for your time. Mbox has a nifty "mono switch." Nice for checking your mix in mono. So.....whazzzzup with PT 001. How does one check a mix in and out of "mono" with the 001 unit?

If you use a hardware mixer, which is the best way to take advantage of having 18 outputs from the 001, you use the mono button on the mixer. If not, you could use one of the many speaker switch/talkback modules currently available. I think there may be plugins you can insert on the master fader, but I'm not sure which ones will do it, I use a mixer. If you do a search, I remember seeing discussions about this in the past.

I have an idea. What about creating a stereo Aux which sends to the Master fader. Pipe your "subs" (if you set it up that way or all your tracks (lengthy)) to that Stereo Aux and then pan it to the center. Thus, outputing to the master fader as Mono!?

I use the Waves S1 Stereo Imager in the master fader. Its set to mono and bypassed. So if I need to check in mono I just actvate it...

The method with an AUX track is the best one.. but for REAL mono pan both tracks LEFT, not centre.
Mono should be checked on ONE speaker to not fool yourself.
