Midi Time Code not working in PT11.3.0 (solved)

Hi,

I often have a 2nd Mac for Logic running beside my MP which hosts PT.

I'm doing the synchronization by transmitting MTC from PT to Logic and also I'm using MMC. MMC (Midi Machine Control) works, but Logic is not playing wehn in external sync cause it is not receiving MTC.

Can someone confirm, that this is broken again ?

Do you have MIDI beat clock enabled for that device/connection? It's in the menu Setup --> MIDI --> MIDI Beat Clock.

Yes - tried with MidiBeatClock enabled and/or disabled. Doesn't make any difference.

The only other option is in Peripherals Sync setup and you most likely have that covered.

So are you saying that MTC is working with your PT HD 11.3.0 ?

I have nothing set up right now that I can check. I do know that MIDI Beat Clock is working by watching activity. That's in 11.3.1. If I get a chance later I'll try to slave Logic locally via IAC.

At first I could not get it to work, but I had forgotten about enabling PT to generate MTC with the Sync options in the transport controls. PTE has a good video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbrNUuaux7k which covers everything. It works over IAC, but just substituting your MIDI port in Setup --> Peripherals --> Sync --> MTC Generator Port should work. I can select a physical MIDI port and it lights up my MTPAV (that's with MIDI beat clock disabled so I'm not seeing that).

thank you so much for verifying !!!!!

It turned out, that my "ProFireLightbridge" device in the AudioMidiSetUp was *somehow* corrupt. I'm using Unitors for Midi.

After adding a new device and cabling it back to "Port#2" where the ProFireLightbridge from MBP is connected via Midi, Logic synchronized again and the Midi Activity LED of Unitor Port 2 is also showing that there's a continuously Midi signal ... finally.

Thx so much again for checking that it is not broken in PT
