as you can see ProTools is still using Carbon Framework, and i'm wondering how you got a working carbon framework under 10.7 gm?
Code:
# otool -L /Applications/Digidesign/Pro\ Tools/Pro\ Tools.app/Contents/MacOS/Pro\ Tools
/Applications/Digidesign/Pro Tools/Pro Tools.app/Contents/MacOS/Pro Tools:
...
	/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon (compatibility version 2.0.0, current version 136.0.0)
at this point my assumption would be, that avid needs (or already has for a brand new version) to recode a lot of legacy (carbon) crap to be compatible with lion.
...
Code:
$ uname -a
Darwin imac.local 11.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.0.0: Sat Jun 18 12:56:35 PDT 2011; root:xnu-1699.22.73~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
$ otool
-bash: otool: command not found
$ file '/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon'
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon (for architecture x86_64):	Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Carbon (for architecture i386):	Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386
$
otool command is not found, maybe because Xcode has not been installed yet.
However, Carbon exists and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit on Lion (GM Seed).
In my understanding, Lion may run only in 64-bit, but it is simply because Finder.app supports only 64-bit.
However, most of other parts including mach_kernel and Carbon still supports 32-bit.
Code:
$ file '/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder'
/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/MacOS/Finder: Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
$ file /mach_kernel
/mach_kernel: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
/mach_kernel (for architecture x86_64):	Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
/mach_kernel (for architecture i386):	Mach-O executable i386
$

This should clear things up a bit:

http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews...s-x-10-6.ars/5

I don't believe anything has changed for Lion (OK, you can't run PowerPC applications anymore, and support for some older hardware has been dropped, see http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07...int_7_preview/ for more information).

But there may be other trouble.
For my case, Play immediately stopped.
After executing Repair Disk Permission from Disk Utility.app,
the permission of /Library/Audio/MIDI Devices was fixed,
and it started to play again.
It seems fine so far on Lion GM Seed (11A511) as on DP4.
Yesterday, I installed Waves V8r7, then PTHD9 became not to accept mouse click.
After removing WaveSehll-DAE 8.0.dpm, PTHD9 resumed working.
This might be Wave's V8r7 compatibility with Lion, rather than PT9 itself.
But anyway, it is still far from stable operation on Lion.

On what???

It's a beta OS!!!

If you have ever used Pro Tools, you know that it's going to be a long time before there is official support, and AVID WILL NEVER DISCUSS FUTURE PROGRESS OF ANYTHING, EVER. PERIOD. FULL STOP.

Then it is time for them to hurry up.......... What is the logic in 'they always let us wait so we should be patient again this time too'?

well, it´s better for them to work on the final retail-version. even gold masters can get big changes, then all the work´s for nothing...

if you have a working system why one should be in hurry for an update ?
I mean, I’m using on a system because it works, just for a couple of new features of the operating system I risk to loose my ability to earn money ?
If I’m really curious and have the time, I explore it on another hard drive.
....and there are just Developer releases of Lion around, so what you expecting
from Avid ? a working pre release of PT to explore an developer release ?
.....come on

what the hell is that matter with you guys? this is how you spend your time? you really WANT TO run an app as complex as PT on a dev copy of an unreleased OS? do you have a single client that would WANT you to do that?

seriously, GO BACK TO WORK, assuming you have any.
