Default Convincing trill

I' using Sonovox companion woodwinds. Anyone have a way of making a convincing trill?

  1. Record at half speed: Command+Shift+Spacebar (Mac) or Control+Shift+Spacebar (Windows).
  2. Record the trill in real-time using a keyboard, wind controller, or keyboard via breath controller.
  3. Don't quantize.

+1 for #3 ^^^
I'm not sure about Sonivox but other libraries come with pre-recorded thrills.

I would also try changing velocity between high and low on each note.

Every note should have subtle variations in:
1. timing (as mentioned above don't quantize)
2. velocity (if the library you are using has multiple samples for different velocities, use them!)
3. volume (you can draw in some volume automation curves for each note)
4. pitch (same as volume, you can automate the pitch wheel parameter)

The more variation in tone/pitch/timing, the more realistic it will sound. To save time in the future, you can also record your trills and map them into Kontakt or another sampler.
