Default Buying a ATA/IDE internal hard drive...what else do you need?

When purchasing an internal ATA IDE hard drive what else do you need by way of cable, mount, etc.? Do you need a controller (Raid card)? I am unknowledgable on this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It depends on your macine. My G4 had the cable and the mount already in it. What macine do you own?? BTW, I have a 30GB Maxtor ATA 7200 and it works great. It did not come with the mounting screws.
