Streamers in ProTools

Hello Digidesign Forum. I have a question that maybe someone here can answer.

I was very intrigued to learn that Digital Performer 5.1 can generate streamers over its quicktime window when that window is on a computer display. I assume that it cannot generate it through the Firewire port (such as a Canopus box) unless the streamers are first exported and "burned in" to the quicktime. It can generate streamers through a MOTU Digital Timepiece, the MOTU Video Timepiece or the CueLine ProCue 1m1 or ClickStreamMachine.

My question is: can I do something similar in ProTools? Is there some software solution I'm missing (something from Gallery, for example?) I'm almost tempted to spend the $500 to do the crossgrade to DP from Logic just for this feature.

Are there any Digidesign rumors to add something like this to ProTools 7.4 or later? There is already a limited video burnin feature in the Sync I/O, and I wonder if this could be expanded to include streamers?

I know this is an old post, but maybe you'll see it.

We're currently writing a program that displays streamers, punches and text on a mac desktop display that can be overlayed on a PT QT movie window. It works in conjunction with our EdiCue program (see link below).
