Midi for an instrumrument
I'm not so often work with midi, but with the falcon I would like to play that.
If I play on the falcon with the mouse, everything fine. Sound comes. If I play with my m-audio_keystation in the transportbar I can see, what cords I play, but there is no sound. In the preference I put it on "follows the first selected MIDI Track" - nothing Then I was trying to look up in the newest manual. page 542. Ok I creat a midi track it like it's written there. - No sound I'm sure it was before possible without a miditrack. Is there more to change somewhere? Input Devices is On Midi Filter is Record all. Pro Tools 2018-12 OS X 10.12.6

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
I try also the path how it's explained on Groove3.com:
https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Pr...2018-Explained Tutorial 20 Setting Up Your MIDI Keyboard Controller It looks simple, I done all the steps and checked if there is something wrong. No. OS X Audio-Midi-Setup is for sure right. Logic is working with the keyboard. Next In Pro Tools 2018-12 In the Top Menu there is a Midi Input Control, that shows me the Chords I play. In the preference I put it on "follows the first selected MIDI Track" Selected Track Falcon Instrument I choose "All" then under this the USB Keystation. Also if paint some notes in the Pianoroll, nothing is happen no sound. If I play on the instrument Sound comes. As it's written in the manual it should working, but it doesn't

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
Is MIDI Thru checked under options and if you arm the instrument track to record, still no sound?

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
use mini grand first to check if your midi input is working

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
And to go a little further back in the stream of things download the free snoize utility which is a MIDI monitor program. It'll give an indication if the MIDI keyboard is healthy and sending the correct messages.

Record enable no Sound, Recording start nothing gets recorded. mini Grand also not working, the cords go in Pro Tools as I wrote before, it shows the cords in the topmenue. If I play d-minor it shows that on the midiinput of Pro Tools. Notes from the Track have also no sound. If I use it with another DAW it's working. Also apainted notes in the pianoview, have no sound if I press play. If I play on the virtual keyboard of MiniGrand or Falcon there is sound. I think there must be something between the entry of Pro Tools and the Instrument Plug-In.

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
When you have a session open, check Menu Setup --> MIDI --> MIDI Input Devices and make sure your controller is checked.

The strange thing is, that even from the track with midinotes come nothing, but if I play on the virtual keyboard (mini Grand, Falcon) then sound comes. Also if I start the Air Boom to play on it sound come, but not from the miditrack, the same like my keyboard.

Re: Midi for an instrumrument
at the top of Instrument Track .. open the I/O portion if you do not see it under View, show it .. this sounds like you have lost the communicatioin between controller and Instrument on the instrument track .. as you say you can see Midi notes and the display is showing a D minor for example .. this was an issue with PT losing this setting .. seems to still happen once in a while
