Hardware Delay Compensation broken

Hardware insert ADC does not work on a Digital 192 with HDX.

When you enter in the delay of the i/o then add the hardware insert there is no null.

There's a few things to consider:
- have you correctly determined the actual delay the hardware unit causes?
- if the hardware unit is changing the sound in any way (EQ / compression etc) then it won't null because it's changing the sound
- double check that you have Delay Compensation active (I've randomly discovered it turned off when opening a session)

It would probably help if you listed exactly what you're trying to do (ie. what hardware unit you are using as the insert, whether you are routing to other plugins or busses, what settings you have for your Delay Compensation engine etc)

I'm guessing he means regardless of any specific piece of outboard or in bypass or straight through its not staying in phase using the 192 digital as apposed to using an analogue 192?

Partly guessing, but Roberts been around long enough to assume the basics.

I know digital has a different latency time from analogue 192's but i thought as long as both inputs and outputs were matching 1-2 in and 1-2 out on the same interface etc it should work.

Ive never owned a 192 digital so can't really comment further or check. but anyone with a 192 digital could do a simple ping test? out and back in again and see if its aligned.

another interesting and really annoying thing is:

recording an audio-track that is sent to an aux. even without plugins it´s out of sync to the other tracks and phasy between the audio-track and the aux that it is sent to.

Hi,

Thats because only the audio track you record onto is bypassed from the delay compensation when recording. so the aux will add a small amount of latency. barely noticeable on non rhythmic parts but rhythmic parts will phase.

then why is it, that if i also route the audio-track to the master and mute the aux it is also sent to, the audio-track is also way behind?

this worked on HD Accel and it was nice to already work on eq/comp/reverb-settings on the aux, without changing anything to the singers headphone-mix that´s sent from the audio-tracks

I was thinking more alongs the lines of OX and PT versions
and what hardware you're using

2010 12 core Mac Pro. 10.7.3 HDX
First 3 interfaces - 3 x 16x16
4th interface Digital 192
Sample Rate 96K
Pro Tools 10.3.0
I recorded through a digital compressor I had the comp connected digital though the 192 AES card and had the preset bypassed so there was no effect dry signal but using the AES signal to measure the delay.
I then duplicated the track and added the bypassed compressor as an insert.
I used a trim plug-in to reverse phase on one track.
I even slipped the track one sample at time to find a null but it never null.
The best cancellation I could ever get was -38dBI only have analog Avid convertors no digital ones to try only only blue 192's
