Default RIP George Jones

Sorry if this is off point for this forum, but watching the news coverage of "The Possum's" funeral today, I can still remember when I first moved to Dallas in the early 1980's and was fumbling around looking for radio stations, I came across a station playing "He stopped loving her today" and was interested in county music for the first time. Having grown up during the British Invasion, I previously had no knowledge or interest in country.

Hey, guys...check out "The Race Is On", which was one of George's earlier hits (around 1965).

I believe The Grateful Dead covered it, along with several other artists...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

George was an icon, and a big influence on generations of country singers.

As a former trucker, I might have to go with Red Sovine's "Teddy Bear".

George was a great artist and troubled individual, as is often the case. As a Viet Nam Vet I'd probably go with "It's all over for 'The Unknown Soldier'" by the Doors. That song still gives me shivers, and/or "Echo Park" by Keith Barbour of that same era. I'm showing my age here....
