Default Re: ProTools price adjustments from July 1st.

So a NEW Avid customer comes in and agrees to the Pro Tools Standard Annual Rental - paid monthly @$29.99 per month x 12 Months = $359.88. DIVIDE that by 365 days in a year and it will cost them $.99 PER DAY to run Pro Tools.

Think about that. Whichever "Plan" you are on, with and without the increase, try doing that and you'll get a very interesting and digestible number IMO.

This is as reported on pro-tools-expert as well.

Where did you get your quote??
Hate to tell you but both "continue to offer" and "re-evaluate" statements can be true. The two actions are in no way mutually exclusive. It just means they haven't figured out future pricing structures etc.., and they as much as admit they want your perpetual license.

The simple fact is AVID IS A POST/VIDEO oriented company, always has been and they only bought PT to replace/control the system they had in place for audio editing for film and video. That's why it's "Avid's Pro Tools" not "Digidesign's Avid"

Having used PT since 5.0 i will opt for one more year of support before the PT vanilla support price increase, then see what is going on next year. Since i only do audio, i will be fine sticking where i am and i feel like if i need to upgrade, i will be willing to absorb the cost. I am staying perpetual. Eff subscription.

This is ludicrous!!! PT is so behind the competition with innovative features & standard ones like ARA. I’ve been paying these crooks (Avid) for years for practically nothing compared to the competition & now a 101% rise in my yearly renewal. We wait FIVE months for 19.5 with barely anything to say “yeah Avid, money well spent”. PT is very buggy on old cumbersome code! I started a thread on this forum regarding the ‘sample rounding’ crazy issue that DOES affect midi & makes PT the ONLY DAW to suffer this bug practically useless for quickly arranging a song, coupled with no ARA, track or playlist folders & then this crazy price rise, it is 100% going to be Studio One 4 for me & BYE PT. For what they want for an annual renewal, for few dollars/pounds more with the crossgrade option for S4 is perpetually bought with all those features added......it’s a no brainier!

Why would I do that? Am I missing something here?
I guess they figure us old timers that still stick with AVID are stupid enough to turn in our $2500 paid ultimate perpetual licenses for Free for the privilege of paying $200 more per year ($599 rather than $399) to keep our software active even though if we stop paying we then have no license at all. A Lose, Lose, Lose scenario.

Is that a typo ? Or are we missing something... Or did someone over there just not think that thru (not that they thought any of this through)

I was kidding about the $799 price (I hope).

Come over to Cubase Pro 10 guys, crossgrade, no limitations, no dated engine, multicore support that actually has an engine that supports it lol....
I have been with PT since 2004 and early this year I made the change, best decision ever!
After being sent this latest email about the price change (my perpetual is valid until August) I spat my tea out in laughter that they expect users to pay for such a dated yesteryear platform that now only serves to keep the fat cat investors rich by throwing the odd free plugin at you peeps lol...
Peace...
Good luck
Ryan

Oh, trust me give it time and that will change. It’s just bait! The price will eventually go up.

9.99 per month is STILL a significant price increase from the 99 per year. Not doing it. If AVID wants my permanent license back, they can buy it from me for 599.00. Then maybe I will subscribe. Or I might just go to Cubase or Cakewalk.

Is it possible to extend your PT Standard perpetual license now for $99 before the price doubles on July 1? I see on mine there is no option to renew currently - mine expires in Sept 2019.
