Just sold my Pro Tools Ultimate license and saved $1000.00. I'm afraid that Ultimate will go into subscriptions too. I did the walking and not the talking. This is the only way to not support a company like this.

I really wanted to love Pro Tools but Avid has made it difficult. I might consider coming back in the future is Avid is no longer in control of Pro Tools or something incredibly magical happens.

I wish everyone who is sticking with Pro Tools good luck. I'm sure Avid still has some surprises for you... and I don't mean good ones. It would be funny if Avid decides to bring the prices back down in 2-3 years, taking advantages of all of those who extended their license 2-3 years in advanced.

Peace and love!

For me, it's a simple matter of value. I've been paying for the Vanilla update plan for (I think) 2 years now, and in my opinion I have not gotten enough return to make it worthwhile. Now they're doubling the price and expecting us to pay for hope. Meanwhile there are other alternatives out there that are a better value, and offer reasonable and optional updates. Logic Pro X came out in 2013 and they have done massive and frequent updates for no extra cost. 6 years since I paid a dime for Logic.

I'm out - going to freeze on 2019 and will use as needed, but I've moved on to Nuendo which has an outstanding feature set and a reasonable upgrade path.

My Vanilla perp license was due to expire 8/3/19. I renewed for 1 year right after the 7/1/19 price increase email.

Checked My Avid Account. It shows option to crossgrade to a Sub yearly for $99 or monthly $9.99 but it still gives me the option to renew perp for 1 year at $99. Does the new pricing become effective after July 1 2019?

Wasn’t all the HD to Vanilla features transition happening during this time ?

The lions share of HD features rolled into Vanilla and they sold it for $99 - meanwhile what actual features did HD get?

Vanilla is a really good option even at $199....

True but most of those are features already found elsewhere, with no yearly fees.
I really like Pro Tools and I was ok at $99, but at $199 per year not so much in my opinion.
Also with other companies, you see what new features are in an upgrade, and then decide if you want to pay or not. Not so with Avid.........

So stop paying your yearly fees then problem solved, if you have a perp lic it will keep working.... and when something comes out in PT that appeals to you update then...
