QTWebengineprocess
Why does Avid Application manager load 4 or 5 instances of QTWebengineprocess.exe, plus it's own applications, and hold down 20% of my cpu resources just to run as a background service? I haven't found a way to ask tech support a question so hopefully someone from Avid can answer this? I don't think this was happening until the most recent upgrade to V17.10.0.

Re: QTWebengineprocess
I'm also having this issue .. and on my machine/s, not only does it open multiple instances, but each instance that opens utilizes roughly 90% CPU processing, causing the fan speed to ramp up insanely.
Anyone have a fix for this?

Re: QTWebengineprocess
Hi Everyone, Avid Application Manager has already been replaced by Avid LINK. Please uninstall your Avid Application Manager and install Avid Link from https://www.avid.com/products/avid-link

Re: QTWebengineprocess
AM should have been uninstalled automatically on the Avid Link installation. On latest Win10 the link in start menu is remaining with name "Avid Application manager" but now pointing to Avid Link. It is necessary to give admistration rights to the exe if you have a more restrictive (more safe) configured system.

Re: QTWebengineprocess
Digging-up an old thread here - I'm carefully only installing Apple Silicon native apps on my new Mac Studio and have come across several instances of QTWebengineprocess, which stood out as the only Intel processes. These show Avid Link as the parent process, suggesting that the latest version of Pro Tools, including associated apps, is not fully Apple Silicon native.
I also noticed that 2023.12 has installed Application Manager in my Applications/Avid folder, although I understand this has been replaced by Avid Link - any idea why is this still being distributed? |

Got a question into the developer team on this one as when you go to Application and click on application manager - it opens Link. I'll let you know why it is still there are if it is a blast from the past that needs to go. Marianna

One of our QA and dev engineers explained ........ We keep an Application Manger folder in place for all Avid Link builds to maintain backwards compatibility for older versions of our products that still try to check with App Man instead of Link. This binary is just a passthrough binary that passes all requests to Avid Link. This is necessary because Avid Link can be updated on its own and we want users to use the most current version of Link without forcing users to upgrade their creative tools if they are not licensed to do so. Hope that helps. marianna
