Default Windows 10 free update ends 29th July

As it looks like Windows 10 update will no longer be free after the 29th of July I am hoping that compatability with Pro Tools will be announced before then.
The silence surrounding this is deafening!

I don't know when/if Avid will approve Windows 10, but if it comes down to the wire you can always install Windows 10 and then revert to your previous OS.

Once Windows 10 has "touched" your machine, you own it, and can reinstall it on that machine as many times as you wish, it will auto activate.

I've been running Windows 10 since it dropped, and have had very few problems. Your results may vary depending on components, interface, PT version, ect.... So, proceed with caution, and always have a backup on hand.

Just my 2 cents.

Windows 10 here as well. I have 7 and 8.1 drives on standby, but have not had to use them yet.

This is getting pretty farcical from Avid. Avid, throw us a bone here - give us at least a projection of when PT will be qualified for W10.

Reading around this subforum, I haven't found anyone recently with any W10 issues - am I not looking hard enough? Is it essentially stable now?

Why not do this:

- Make an image of your current operating system's hard drive
- Install Windows 10 over your current OS or as a clean install
- Make an image of the Windows 10 install
- Restore the image of your current operating system
- When Avid qualifies Windows 10, image your operating system, bring back the Windows 10 image, update, etc. and try the version of Pro Tools qualified for Windows 10

If it's no good, restore the image you made before trying it.

Macrium Reflect 6 Free will do this just fine.

Cheers,

Noiseboyuk - I've done a little browsing over the last few weeks as I've installed W10 with PT 12.5, and there have been users that have had issues with W10. Don't remember the content, just that there are those for whom it has not been smooth sailing.
