Digidesign - Why new SCSI disks?
I get an email every so often from MIX about new products, etc. Today's email had a link for new SCSI disks from Digidesign.
I understand that AVID makes the disks, but this makes no sense to me. What about firewire (400 and/or 800), ATA, and SATA made the investment in new SCSI disks worthwhile? I can understand why an AVID system doing uncompressed work would need SCSI, but Digidesign systems? I cannot see the advantage of using SCSI in the present. I would appreciate it if someone from Digidesign could enlighten me as to what I am missing by not using SCSI, and in particular these new SCSI disks. Thanks for reading.

Re: Digidesign - Why new SCSI disks?
These are specifically for Digidesign systems that incorporate hardware like the V|10, which require fast drives for video playback.
