Default Re: Pro Tools placing sound EARLY??

I just did the test Leaving PT 8.0.4 installed, uninstalling the Avid Audio 64x driver and INSTALLING the 8.0.4b driver. This seems to fix everything. Insted of placing the audio early, it is now slighly late, which is normal latency.

This test was done on the 003R. The 11R is un-affected by either driver, places audio correctly.

Here is the proof

my findings also with the 002. analog input with my bass was accurate in placin' the audio in the timeline. looks like 8.0.4b drivers will be what one will need if they wanna run on W7 x64.

Mine is still shaky with 8.0.4 and 8.0.4b driver although improved.

But 8.0.3 cs2 with the 8.0.4b driver is spot on nailed.

I'll go back and look at 8.0.4 with the beta driver and see if I can get it in line.

I have separate drives for all these combinations.

This was all done with a 002r.

does your 8.0.3/8.0.4b setup mirror Benoni's pics?

No. The waveform on the return to the record track is more what you would expect to see from a headphone output into a mic. I am using an AKG 240 into a U87. Timing is similar though.

I have had varying results now with restarts and re- installations of the beta driver with 8.0.4. I evidently need to nail down some variables.

8.0.3/4b cs2 remains stable.

so does that mean it lines up identical to the bussed click on the audio1 track?

Virtually identical with 8.0.3/4b cs2. Not with 8.0.4/4b. (002r)

EDIT: I am using the stock converters for this test. Buffer 64

Let me start again. 8.0.3/4b cs2 is spot on (not late) the headphones are on the mic. All is well.

Now after many re-installs of the beta driver over 8.0.4 the click is constantly coming back late about 147 samples. On my first test with this setup there were different results but after re-installing the beta driver and a couple restarts, this has become consistent (147 samples late). I prefer the results of 8.0.3/4b to the results of 8.0.4/4b. 147 samples is too much latency for me.
