Not sure if I wanted to spend money on the upgrade.

I was told (for current owners) it's $80 for the the MK2 collection and $120 for the complete package with the EQs. I only wanted the compressor because I have the EQs with UAD and Waves.

On the irony front, this one would need DSP a lot more than the previous version. It's noticeably more hungry than the previous version.

The compressor went from easy to use to hard to use when applying a light touch on somewhat dynamic content like a strumming acoustic guitar.

Those things aside, I thought they did well. I'll RTFM and practice some more to get the compressor under control. I hope.

The EQ' are sonicly the same. The comp is a bit clearer and brighter. If you eq the bass drum right, the comp will sound a bit like a API 2500/SSL and other famous buss comps.

That's my experience.

The Mid/Side and dual mono feature is a nice addition. You can also set different settings per channel for the EQ and Comp. I purchased the complete collection upgrade at JRR shop for $63.

Do these work with the ICON/D-Command comp/eq sections now?

I think I remember they didn't, which is a mark against the otherwise brilliant softube.

I used to use the tubetech stuff back in Cubase/Studio One days, really liked it. Not too keen on the graphical changes in the new version though.
