80 €uro bucks for the Classic Channel MkII cross-grade. Done. Great!

Totally agree!! Damn the developers who have abandoned DSP plugins, even though it's most of them, haha I think.

Yeah I don't think it's the developers fault. Avid just didn't do a good enough job making the transition and selling the AAX DSP platform. It came across as we are the Industries standard so everyone will want to follow suit. I guess they can chalk it up as a lesson learned. It's a bit of a humble pie IMO. I love Pro Tools but man they didn't get that right but this year it has gotten better. The market is flooded with equal options so you have to do something extra to compete. At that time IMO they just didn't have the right vision going forward along with all the internal changes that were taking place. They just have to start looking at their market and their customer base a little different if they want to continue to be the top dog.

Is there sonic enhancement? The product page listed:

"Improved sound, with a total remodel of the CL 1B, along with an update to the EQs using our latest signal processing technology."
and then three bullets later...
"Still the same epic audio processors they always were."

I'm sure they meant something that makes sense.

Edit: The lack of clarity is catching. I meant to ask those who have tried it if they had noticed tone improvement.

Maybe if Avid dropped the price of the HDX cards by half, and built a Thunderbolt chassis for them to use as an external DSP unit like the UAD stuff or Waves SoundGrid, they could start selling the DSP platform and plugins and get some traction from some other developers.

The CL1B has improved greatly sonically. Not that is wasn't good before but definitely a MKII. The best thing to do is demo it for yourself. I have the first version and the mark II sounds a lot better.

Since they dropped AAXDSP support they probably are more efficient CPU wise since they dropped the extra code
