Default Using rack external effects as inserts latency issues

I am always off by 20ms. Even after doing the hardware compensation in the I/O and the Long delay comp.
bringing the sample engine down to 64
I have yellow in the delay track. (which is good)

I know others use external hardware like compressors and preamps
I'm using an 002
using channel 5 out to compresors from compressor channel 7

20ms is a decent delay that I just cant get out.
Am I doing something wrong?

Delay compensation can only work with correctly assigned insert paths. You must use a matched set of IO for inserts. That means, for instance, output 5 must be used with input 5.

the 022 from ch 5 out into compress out to compress back into the 002 into ch5 in

would that create a feedback loop?
