Default Lost iLok + Pro Tools Express

Hi Folks,

Just after a bit of advice. The school i work in have lost one of their iLoks with a Pro Tools Express V10 Licence on it.

Unfortunatly, we do not have insurance (this is my first dealing with the iLoks since i started here). From my understanding the process is:
  • Raise RMA with iLok reporting lost iLok
  • Purchase ASC to speak to Avid
  • Negotiate\Purchase new licence with Avid
  • Add licence to iLok

We have a spare iLok so once we have a replacement licence i am hoping i can just transfer the new licence to this device using the licence manager.

I would like to confirm, before purchasing an ASC, if Avid will be able to provide a new licence for Pro Tools Express? From what i gather this would have came with our Avid Fast Track Duo, so i'm not sure if obtaining a new licence would be straightforward?.

I was thinking we could buy a new Fast Track Duo with the licence, however from what i can tell these are now discontinued.

Welcome to the community.

Yes, Avid can replace your Pro Tools Express license. Also, the ASC purchase covers the cost, so there's no need to also purchase a new license (your 3rd point).

The process is outlined here if that helps.

That's excellent Jeffro, thanks for the advice. From what i read online i thought we'd need to purchase a new licence, possibly at full price.
