REWIRE \"MIDI input problem\"
I WAS HOPING SOMEONE COULD HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ISSUE. I'M RUNNING PTLE 6.4 ON A PC AND I'M TRYING TO HAVE PRO TOOLS AND REASON WORK TOGETHER THROUGH AN INSERT IN AN AUX TRACK BUT I KEEP GETTING THIS MESSAGE.
"MIDI input problem. One or several of the MIDI inputs could not be opened. They might be in use by another application. Open the Preferences dialog and check your MIDI settings." REASON WORKS JUST FINE WITHOUT PT, BUT IT'S WHEN I TRY TO RUN REASON THROUGH PT VIA REWIRE THAT ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. THANKS. |

Re: REWIRE \"MIDI input problem\"
You need to use a MIDI track in Pro Tools as your input while in rewire mode.
There are a few workarounds if you are using a USB MIDI controller, but you really didn't give details about your setup, and that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Re: REWIRE \"MIDI input problem\"
I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and I don't have a USB midi controller. It's actually a "Williams Sonata 88" electric piano with midi capabilities via midi in/out. The midi in/outs are going to their respective midi in/out ports in the Digi001. That's pretty much my setup. I've been able to have it work perfectly without having to create a midi track in PT by just creating a rewire insert on an aux track before, but it was on a G4 Mac running OSX. I hope that maybe sheds a little more light on what I have going on. Thanks.

As I mentioned before, there is a workaround; Using a USB MIDI interface. You would plug the 88 into the USB interface, then disconnect the interface before starting Pro Tools. Then reconnect it, and it's ports should be available to Reason.

Re: REWIRE \"MIDI input problem\"
Thanks for writing back...that really sucks though. They should make a patch for it.
