Default micro problems =(

so iv about had it with this micro. first i was using lepoard with it and it was getting sort of glitchy: kept saying i needed to increase buffer and not enough cpu power, and i noticed every once in a while my operating system would crash, the black and white screen fades down and says you need to hold down the power button blah blah. i figured this was because i am stuborn and wanted to use lepoard. so today i decided to go back to tiger, i completely wiped my drive, installed tiger and now as soon as i plug the micro in the computer crashes right away. im about to flip on this thing. i have a warranty and can send it back, but want to make sure this thing is faulty. any reason why it would do this?

also....because the micro has to be plugged into the left USB on the macbook pro, this makes it not possible to use a power supply. will using the little extension thing that came with the micro solve this problem? iv heard that using usb hubs will not work with the micro, not sure about this thing though.

My Micro works great. I like the convenience of being able to edit on the sofa at home and on airplanes. As for it not fitting in your left USB port - that's why Digi gives you the extension.

Pro Tools LE is NOT yet compatible with Leopard

therefore you should not expect this to work

AT ALL

you must wait for a compatible pro tools update for Leopard

drguitar, you may have missed the part where he said he had wiped his drive and gone back to Tiger.

What we'd need to know is exactly which version of tiger and PT are you trying to use?

im using 7.3.1 on mac 10.4.10. i remember reading not to update to 10.4.11. i installed it PT, then unistalled and installed again and it seems to be working fine for now. hopefully it will keep running. in the manual it says to connect the micro before installing PT, and when i did that my system would crash. so after installing then connectin the micro, it seems to be working ok without the "hardware buffer/cpu" errors and crashes, but my sessions dont really have alot of plugs or tracks so i guess ill have to see once i beef up the sessions.

iv also read that its a must to have a external drive for the audio files when recording with PT. is this neccessary with the micro, since im just going to be editing on the go and not tracking?

You can skate by with the internal drive for working on SMALL sessions but any session with a lot of tracks will not run well from a 4200 or 5400 rpm drive.
