You can try PT10 on Yosemite but there is no unistaller so go agead and try.

Don't forget to install the separate HD driver other wise it won't work.

However it should atleast light up when plugged in to a TBolt port IMO

Let us know after you tried PT on 10.10 and installed the driver for HD found in the Avid Account.

You can, we do but for the Mac to find the TBolt Box Avid says restart after connecting to the box

Yeah, the installer won't let me install it. "An incompatible version of OS was found. Pro Tools 10.3.10 requires Mac OS X version 10.7 or higher."

Aaaarrrrgggggghhhhh

I can't help you there as i am in another studio getting paid to produce so i have to finish here, however I hope someone else can chime in.

Did you try with an external power supply?

Then you will atleast see of it lights up. As said the thunderbolt ports are questionable on old Macbooks.

Sorry that I couldn't help you more here.

Not yet… don't seem to have the right adaptor laying around here anywhere.

Thanks for your help.

If the light doesn't come up, the box is likely defective. Last year mine blew due to (?) bad grounding on Apple TB Display. Fuse went off and after connecting everything the HDN light was dead and the box was unusable. Avid luckily managed to get it serviced before I had next studio booking, but still...

What you can do is take the box and TB cable to someone (or some store) that has more current MBP or iTrashcan, and try it there. If it lights, it should be okay. If the light is dead, send it back.

Common problem

Sometimes people don't know the difference between the mini display port and thunderbolt port. Please check your computer compatibility,

Oh not again, another DisplayPort != Thunderbolt port confusion.

Oh well just think how much fun it is going to be with confusion like this with USB 3.1 (and older USB?), Thunderbolt 3, HDMI and MHL video all potentially running off a Type-C connector... not to mention all the PITA with the impending connector and cable compatibility games with Thunderbolt 3...

I have a dream... that one day my little daughter will use a computer system where different components are not judged by their connectors but by the content of their character :)

Seriously, I already started to believe that TB would be the one port to rule them all for a while, but apparently no. Was it too big for Apple, need something smaller?

If the OP has tried 2012 model it should definitely have TB but for 2011 I'm not so sure. I have a mid-2011 MBA and it has TB but there might be some 2011 models that don't have it. I have let myself understand that pre-2011 are DP and 2011 onwards are TB.
