I can't answer the question directly. I can tell you that Apple has fewer security holes in Mountain Lion than they do in Lion. Mountain Lion should still receive security updates. Lion is unlikely to see any additional security updates.

Thanks - would you know if what I am reading at GEARSLUTZ forums is true that: Mavericks is stable as Mountain Lion for PT 10 and PT 11. If so, I will bypass 10.8 just straight to Mavericks.

I do not know if that is true. I do know that Avid does not support PT 10 on Mavericks, and that the PT 10 uninstaller does not work with Mavericks.

I am not sure how you reached that conclusion. Mountain Lion is qualified for both v10.3.9 and v11.2.2.
