Default Creating Envelopes?

Hello! I am a total noob to PT and have searched online and in the help section and still cannot find what I am looking for.

I am trying to create a simple panning envelope in a track and I cannot figure out how.

I figured out that volume envelopes are available in AUX tracks, and so I am good there - though it would be nice to be able to create envelopes in tracks as well.

Any assistance you can offer would be appreciated!!!

You can create volume, pan, send, mute, and when in use, plugin envelopes as well,on your tracks. I know this is rather a simplistic answer, but look in the user manual, it's all there.
You will probably find some "how to" videos on Youtube as well.

Simplistic yes. I searched You Tube and I looked in the help section of Pro Tools. I will look in my account and see if there is a manual to download.

The manual is the "Reference Guide". It is already on your PC. In the unzipped installer file, there is a folder "Documentation". And on C: it is also (My Documents / Pro Tools).
In the Reference Guide (or in youtube), do not search for "envelopes", search for "automation".
Under the track name, click "waveform" and choose "pan" : draw your pan (envelope) automation.
Aux tracks do not have a waveform, that is why the "track view" is set to "volume".
In the Ref Guide, read Part IX:Mixing - Chapter 45:Automation, especially p.995, right side (to have multiple automation lanes visible, e.g. for pan and for volume).

Yes! Thank you. I got the reference guide (I didn't realize it was such a huge document), and found the section you're talking about. That is exactly what I needed.

I was also using the wrong terminology in my searches. That would definitely have helped, I think.

Thank you!!
