YES!!! A little more expensive than I'd hoped, at $799, but still much better than having to buy a MTRX Studio mkII!!

Thunderbolt 3 module looks very cool. Curious about a few things, if anyone happens to know…

Is there no way to connect a sync peripheral if using the thunderbolt module without HDX?

When using the MTRX Studio with the thunderbolt module in addition to an HDX card, are you limited to 64 channels of I/O, or do you get 64 channels through DigiLink and 64 channels through TB3? (assumably by sacrificing the 64 DANTE channels)

Can the thunderbolt module be combined with an HD Native card as well, or only an HDX card?

Hi Mark! ‘Native low latency’ as specified in the data sheet is not a number. So , question: AX64, core 256 and AX Center is 2 samples latency on the (pre-installed) ‘thundercore’ Thunderbolt 3 connection. What’s the amount of sample delay at AVID’s Thunderbolt option card? Curious to know!:)

Looks very nice! Trade-in would be nice, but no doubt not going to happen. And, dropping AES, am I the only person who still cares?

No you’re not. My Kii Three speakers run on AES, and half of the Atmos world runs their Genelecs with AES. So that’s a big downgrade from the discontinued MTRX to the MTRX II

Product shots on Avid's website are misleading, suggest it still has AES, but specifications say otherwise.

Good comparison sheet here.

oh man, too bad, the TB3 is not for the first MTRX.
I really hope DAD or Avid gone make this happen in the future.

Very much doubt it, given it's a small board rather than a card.

DADman works as every input/output is separate. You then use DADman to make connections between them.

If you are using HDX with the Studio and Pro Tools, then Pro Tools is either running in Hybrid or Classic HDX mode. So It only sees the digilink inputs/outputs (not the thunderbolt.) But in DADman you could patch the thunderbolt to the digilink. If running ProTools using CoreAudio mode, then the playback engine would be the thunderbolt and Pro Tools wouldn't see the digilink. You could patch digilink to the thunderbolt but I don't know the point of that.

And the SyncHD/SyncX hooks to HDX cards only so far.
