seems to work ok, but cant get the wah pedal to work. pedal B always controls a knob of the amp, usually Presence or Vol/Pre 2 on the amp.

So from what I've seen, the Behringer FCB1010 is the cheapest way to go as far as a midi controller ($150ish new). My understanding is to get the most out of the fcb1010, you need to get the updated Uno chip (for the stompbox capability that does not come stock) and the sys file from Robertmonroe. Am I correct ? or am I still missing something.

Other choices are:
1) Roland FC-300 $400 new
2) Voodoo Lab Ground Control $400 new recommended by digi to work out of the box

Robert, thanks for all your help here. Perhaps I'm just missing something, but would you please explain the following.

If I use the midi connections to connect the pedal to 11R, how do I get the 11R to work with ProTools to record program changes? Currently, I'm doing that via midi and the 11R only has 1x1 midi ports.

Thanks,
-Scott

I have no idea , I only use my FCB1010 to control 11R itself. Anybody else try to manipulate Pro Tools with FCB1010?

I don't know about the FCB1010 because i don't own one, (i tend to steer clear of Behringer cause every product i've owned by them hasn't lasted over a year and a half) but this should work with any MIDI controller. (that sends program changes)

Set up a MIDI track in PT. After, look at what would be the automation lanes in an Audio track. (the place where you can view velocity, pitch bend, volume, etc.) You should see an option that says "program change".

If your MIDI track is set to receive on the channel that your controller is sending, (ex. if the controller is MIDI out: channel 1, make sure the track is receiving on channel 1) the track will receive and record all MIDI being sent on that channel, including Program Changes.

If you have selected "Program Changes" in the lanes, you should be able to view the program changes as they appear in time, just like MIDI notes.

Once recorded, you can send this information any midi capable device through 11R External, or whatever VI's you use in the comp. (for example: Macs could use anything that was routed with the IAC Driver)

Wish i could be of more help, but that was what i could just figure out in 10 minutes.

EDIT: This also works with an instrument track. For example, instead of sending program changes, you configure your controller to send note on/off. If the instrument track is set to receive on the right channel, you can play predefined chords with your feet in something like Xpand, and play over it with guitar through 11R. Could be something cool to use in a live situation.

Does the FCB1010 have push buttons under the expression pedals? Can't tell by the website nor specs and can't find one to look at in stock anywhere.

I'm assuming no, so for use with the 11R you have to push one of the switches first, right?

Thanks, -cp

i really wish that the FCB had buttons under the exp pedals. I mean, the FCB is the recommended controller for Behringer's guitar effects processors right? hard to believe that they would still make users go through the pedal dance. If it had the buttons, the FCB would be an almost perfect solution for the 11R and i would buckle down and buy one so i could use my Roland FC300 to control the laptop onstage. Though i have thought getting an FCB to control the laptop. (Just wish it had a Mac friendly editor)

With that said, to my knowledge, the only controller with the buttons under the exp is the Roland FC300, which is a good (yet much more expensive) option. They both have their limitations so it's really a trade off depending on which one you buy. Though i must say, the Roland interface for programming is not too hard for us MIDI challenged guitarists to get a hang of.

EDIT: Roland FC300 is the only one with the toe down button until the mythical Stealthboard hits the market. lol

I agree that does suck. The ground control for GTR3 also has no switches under the pedals. The Sanpera II pedal for the Peavey Vyper has a switch on both pedals and I like it a lot for that reason.

I don't know if that pedal can be set up for the 11R, I don't think so since it is not programmable.

I would like to mod my FCB to have switches and add at least one other feature I want.
