OK Protools gods riddle me this

I want to send audio out the optical s/pidf port.

I have successfully gotten the optical output of my cpu into PT but i want to send audio OUT the optical as well. This option does not come up in the hardware setup. THE input gives you the option [Optical (S/PDIF)] but there is no option on the output side.
CHOOSING digital 1-2 or doing the control + to main output in not the answer is does not work. (unless I am doing something wrong).

What hardware?

The 2 channel digital I/O on PT interfaces is designated as the [Encl] or enclosure. In Hardware Setup you have to choose the format you want to use. They will then be available in the pulldown menu.

The cables are in the right spot ports just can't figure out how to send audio to the output.

If it is active in the I/O set up output tab, and it is mapped to an output on the bus tab to the digital port, you simply need to assign your track to it
