Maxim 1.1 Plugin with NuBus??
Does the Digidesign Maxim vers. 1.1 plugin require PCI hardware? I see it supports PTIII, but does it support it on NuBus?

Re: Maxim 1.1 Plugin with NuBus??
The answer to that question is a no, it doesn't require ONLY PCI hardware. It works just fine on NUBUS PPC PTIII rigs. However, you do loose the ability to use the 18 and 20 bit dithering.. Well at least that is the way it sounds.. I'll have to do some more testing to see if it is completely disabled.. BUT the main use as a maximizer is very functional.
I have a PM8500 connected to a PPC Expansion Chassis card, and the chassis has 1 Disk I/O, 4 DSP Farms, and 4 TDM SampleCells. I could go with 3 more cards in the chassis, but the power requirements of the cards just won't allow it. I'm using Maxim 1.2 TDM with AudioSuite Version. I've also used 1.1 on that rig as well. Good luck, ppuskari2 |
