Default Component search: Flex Cable connector on Pro Tools HD pcix core card

My pci-x Accel card recently came unseated and I began to get an error message when loading Pro Tools stating that my flex cable was damaged.

Well, I reseated the flex cable (where it connects to my core card) one time too many and damaged the connector on the core card that the flex cable plugs in to.

So now I have no way to connect my perfectly fine Accel card and am stuck running HD1.

Can anyone help me source this part so that I can try to fix my core card?

Thanks Craig.

It's actually not the flex cable I need. It's the component/port that the flex cable plugs into on my pcix core that I'm looking to source.

Try contacting Avid and send the card in for repair or try to find someone with a bad card that is willing to let it go for peanuts

Thanks digidesigner.

For now, I'm trying to avoid the $80 phone call without knowing what the repair fee might be on top of that and even if they would do it... If I can find the part I can just do it myself.

Also I believe it would be a real pain to try to extract this component from another card in one piece...

hey dude,

Yes, the plastic part lifted off, leaving exposed pins. The problem is that the last pin bent and is loose.

I was able to slip the plastic part back over the exposed pins...

My Dad said there's a chance that pin isn't even used so my plan is to try a new Flex cable as is and maybe I'll get lucky.

If I need your help I'll definately give you a shout. Thanks a bunch for the offer.

i got my fingers crossed for ya! If that doesn't work, I would send the card to an authorized service shop like AllPro in Nashville. They took very good care of me when my 003 fried the firewire, and they service the entire line. They would be my first stop as Avid(the company0 really only deal with warranty issues. Everything else gets referred to a service center anyway(after the expensive phone call). I paid for the call, so now I can save YOU the money

Again I fix these issues

You can pay avid the new pricing of Well over $400 3-5 days, or over $800 for a advance replacement, (( I had a new client just get a card repaired via avid advance for only $823 ))

I know this because...I fixed the other card, after which his previous tech used a screw driver to remove the flex cable destroying it , then forced the card in and out of the PCIe slot breaking off R35, C269,255,& C179

Or send it here and should run under $100

FWIW

I assure you I have more experience and better equipment

Buy no means am I putting down any form of work performed by the official Avid support , it is what it is

Nor am I " super tech " it's just seems that " official = $$$$ ?

I'm sure you know what to do
