You need to post more information.
What sort of mac do you have?
What operating system?
If it is a power PC mac (prior to intel) PT 9 will not work on it.

PT 9 is not compatible with G5's. Only Intel Macs. This is plainly stated in the system requirements. Also, PT9 needs Snow Leopard to operate, and Snow Leopard will not run on G5's.

If you can find an older version of PT to run on the computer, your interface may be compatible. You may want to check on the Alesis website.

Yes, On a G5 mac with 10.5.8 you would need to run Avid hardware with PT 8.0.1. Your interface will NOT be compatible. you can scroll down on this page to check the compatibility grids.

Welcome to the lovely world of legacy abandonment. With Apple, get familiar with it.

I assist a lot of people each year acquiring hardware and software for production and post-production suites. That being said, did someone tell you a G5 running 10.5 would run the current rev of PT? If so ask to return the hardware - I work at a university, and we are about to sell about 8 PPC MacPros - we are very clear about what they can and can't do when people buy them. Also, I am interested how you purchased PT. Dealer, eBay? Just wondering.

Right. I hope the OP did not pay a lot of it that system. I know it is plenty capable of doing specific tasks, but the low-end 13" MacBook Pro is significantly more powerful in current terms.
