Default audio clock error

Hello. New Pro tools user, bought a new laptop I thought could handle it...see Sandra below.

Installed normally, everything worked right by the manual...until I pressed play. I cannot do any playback at all; the error " Problem detected with audio clock. Please check that your clock source and sample rate are correct" comes up.

Of course I went into setup and made sure the sample rate is correct, and it is (44.1). The audio clock is set to internal, as it should be. But I cannot get playback still.

Have been reading posts on this forum about this topic for days now, and everyone with this problem seems to have a hard time troubleshooting it. Poeple seem to suggest not saving to a system drive, (which I was trying to do, and will buy an external drive tomorrow) but most threads go on to say that didn't work. It seems to be a compatibility issue, maybe with windows 7? Maybe it's something with the built-in audio cards that 's incompatible, and I gotta disable?

Anything helps!!

a little more info for you helpers:

To be clear: I get no playback at all. I cannot play the PT demo session. I cannot play a click track. I cannot do anything that involves playing/listening/recording etc. The basics.

It seems like other people that had this problem had unsupported processors (For example, Turion). Is mine unsupported? How do I check on this?

Have you disabled the wireless when running PT? Which version of PT? Which interface? Where is your separate recording drive?

I had the same problem with pretty much the same setup, it really had me pulling my hair out. I just got off the phone with Digi (they'll always be Digi to me) and was told Windows update 8.0.4 adresses compatability issues with Win 7 and should solve our problem.

look for it here onder the "what's hot" header:

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...ommunity3=1450

It's a 780 meg download so it's going to take a while. If it doesn't work I will post here again.

Was this issue ever solved? I just posted a similar thread as I have been unable to get any audio from my new laptop!

If you did work out how to fix this i would be most greatful as it is sooooooooooo frustrating (as I am sure you know!)
